چکیده

Understanding plants’ response to different irrigation levels is essential for developing effective scheduling practices that conserve water without affecting plant growth and yield. The objective of this study was evaluate the responses three sweet corn ( Zea mays var. saccharata ) cultivars 1170, 8021, Battalion under (50%, 75%, 100%). Irrigation treatments were based on soil moisture management allowable depletion. Replicated trials conducted, in an open field using 1-gal containers, at Tropical Research Education Center, Homestead, FL. A drip system with microsprinklers used irrigation. Daily crop evapotranspiration (ET c rates measured a digital scale differences weights containers plants. Reference o calculated FAO-Penman-Monteith equation. Crop-coefficient (K values from ET . In addition, leaf area, stomatal conductance, fresh biomass measured. Total amounts corresponding 50%, 100% 116, 162, 216 mm, total 128, 157, 170 respectively. two deficit (50% 75%) resulted reduction compared treatments. Results also showed 75% treatments, K usually greater than 1 reached as high 1.5. Additionally, area weight 50% treatment mostly lower or

Corn yield responses under crop evapotranspiration-based irrigation management

Improving irrigation water management is becoming important to produce a profitable crop in South Texas as the water supplies shrink. This study was conducted to investigate grain yield responses of corn (Zea mays) under irrigation management based on crop evapotranspiration (ETC) as well as a possibility to monitor plant water deficiencies using some of physiological and environmental factors....

Phytoremediation Potential of Corn and Oat for Increased Levels of Soil Cadmium under Different Irrigation Intervals

The present pot experiment was undertaken to investigate the phytoremediation potential of corn and oat in soil. Treatments consisted of four cadmium (Cd) levels (0, 5, 10 and 20 mg l 1) and three irrigation intervals (1, 3 and 7 days), arranged in the form of a complete randomized design with three replications. Corn and oat were harvested after 75 and 90 days, respectively. Transpiration rate...

Irrigation and Sugar in Sweet Corn

Sweet corn (Zea mays L.) producers desire high yields and high sugar content in the endosperm. High irrigation levels result in high yield, but their effect on sugar content is unclear. The effects of two irrigation levels, standard and stressed on endosperm sugar content were evaluated using three sugary1 hybrids over 2 years. No significant differences were found among the treatments when ave...

Ground-based Remote Sensing of Corn Evapotranspiration under Limited Irrigation Practices

Ground-based remotely sensed data were used in two major approaches to estimate crop coefficient and evapotranspiration (ET) over two treatments of limited-irrigation corn in northeastern Colorado. The first approach, known as the reflectance-based crop coefficient, takes advantage of the unique relationship between crop coefficients (Kc) and vegetation indices of agricultural crops. The second...
